Life Drawing
I went life drawing last night. Had a really good time like normal. There's something so cathartic about the whole process.
I just googled "cathartic" to make sure it meant what I thought it did, and the definition was far more accurate and meaningful than I imagined!
The model was great. Good poses and fun shapes in her body.
The texture on the charcoal drawing is too much for me, but the pencils don't hit the range of value that I like. I'll have to try and find something in the middle next time.

Life Drawing
I haven't used charcoal in a million years. I normally avoid it because my drawings end up as messy blackened numbers with fingerprints all over them. These turned out okay though, and I'm pleasently surpirised. Still some dodgey bits and room for improvement. They get a bit smudgey smudgey on my waly home too. Need to get some hairspray.

Life Drawing 15.09.10

Haven't posted a few weeks worth of life drawing because I've been lazy with my scanning. Yesterday was pretty productive though, so I thought I'd get it up here. Fat people are pretty fun to draw, more reference points in the form of creases and shadows, so a bit easier too. the 40 minuter is at home, so here're the sketches. My lines are getting a bit more expressive, and bonus points on this round for drawing the heads! Feel like I'm progressing.
10 min warm up, 3 x 2min, and 20 min.

Life Drawing
.jpg)
Went to a life drawing class on Wednesday. It was great fun. I haven't done anything like this for ages, and it shows. Pencil is now a bit of a forein medium to me, and all my design drawing at work has turned me away from an arty looking end product. I'm also pretty slow. But there was a great creative atmosphere there, and lots of talented people. I'll try and make it a regular thing, you never know, I might even learn something...
I also saw Predators, which was fun, but lacked the Grrr that the origional Arnie film had.
